Eucalyptus Essential Oil (eucalyptus globulus) is steam distilled from the leaves and has a strong,camphorous aroma which is sharp and refreshing.Eucalyptus is derived from the Greek "Eucalyptos," meaning well-covered. This is because the buds are covered by a cup shaped membrane and as the flower grows, this is pushed away.
There are over 300 species of Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Globulus being the most well-known. It originates from the Australian Gum Tree and was used widely by the Aborigines who imparted their knowledge to the white settlers.
In the summer Eucalyptus is a useful insect repellent and in the winter one of those oils to vaporise around the home.
