Thyme Essential Oil (thymus vulgaris) is steam distilled from the flowers and leaves.Thyme is derived from the Greek 'Thymos' meaning to perfume. They held Thyme in high regard and used it for many purposes within their lives including burning it in worship to their deities.
It was the Romans who first introduced Thyme into Europe and during the Middle Ages judges would take sprigs of it into the courtrooms because they believed it to keep infection at bay.
